The Indigenous Education Institute (IEI) was founded in 1995 for the preservation and contemporary application of Indigenous traditional knowledge. We are located in Bluff, Utah, on the Navajo Nation, USA. We are governed by an Indigenous Board of Directors. We have an International Advisory Council and an Elders’ Circle to give us advice and counsel. Our mission is to preserve, protect and apply traditional Indigenous knowledge. We work with traditional knowledge holders to initiate collaborative research and to develop and articulate realistic application of the research to succeeding generations. We develop Indigenous-based curriculum for teachers and for K-12 classes. We develop online Internet courses in Indigenous astronomy at the university level. We create educational materials in Indigenous science and astronomy. We deliver workshops and seminars on the juxtaposition of native ways of knowing and western science/quantum physics. We give presentations around the world, on subjects such as paradox and collaboration of native and western scientists, native research protocol and Indigenous –based project evaluation and assessment.
