WIPCE 2005 welcomes indigenous peoples of all nations.
Nau mai haere mai ki Aotearoa a te tau 2005.
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is dedicated to promoting inspirational ideas and practices from Indigenous communities that can be applied on an international scale.
It is pleased to host this world renowned gathering of indigenous educators, researchers and students. The 2005 conference is an opportunity for honouring all previous hui (gatherings.) It also creates an occasion for bringing interesting and innovative ideas that evoke inspiration and pride as indigenous peoples.
2005 International Indian Treaty Council Conference
Submitted by admin on Fri, 2005-07-01 04:03The International Indian Treaty Council will hold its 31st Anniversary Treaty Conference August 3 – 7, 2005 at Hobbema Ermineskin Maskwaciys Cree Nation, hosted by the Confederacy of Treaty 6 First Nations, Alberta Canada. This year’s conference theme is: “Our Treaties are Sacred; We must Protect them, as long as the grass grows and the river flows”.
The IITC was founded in South Dakota, USA in 1974 to be an international voice for Indigenous Peoples. The IITC received United Nations Consultative Status in 1977. Since that time it has worked to build Indigenous unity around the world, address human rights violations threatening Indigenous Peoples’ survival and achieve international recognition for Indigenous Peoples’ rights.
