WIPCE 2011 website has been recently improved and some important changes has been made in the best interest of WIPCE PERU 2011 Delegates.

First of all, the Early Bird registration has been extended and it is now possible to register with the lowest rate until February 15th.

Due to website challenges we are aiming to have the website fully operational by 31st January 2011. We understand that some organisations need to register before the end of this calendar year. We are pleased to be able to accept registrations from individuals and group delegations wishing to register now in order to receive early bird registration benefits. Registrations will be accepted by email communication while the website is undergoing completion.

The World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) is held in Cuzco, Peru on the 14th-18th of August 2011. Deadline for the "Condor" registration type ends on the 31st of December 2010. As of today we welcome Elle Maaret Labba as the new WINHEC Head-Office Executive. She enters the new position that is a revised position after Ville Söderbaum left his position. She will be in charge of the administration of head-office and do planning and follow up on the business that is decided upon by WINHEC chair, the Executive Committee, the Executive Board/General meeting, Affirmation/Accreditation Board, etc.

The best online teacher

Equipped with mobile phones and computers, Mathis Persen Bongo has given reindeer herders an opportunity to pursue higher education, while herding reindeer. For that he has been named this year's online teacher in Norway.
Mathis Bongo’s education program is rewarded for its innovative system using new technology in practical education. Jury Chairman of the Norwegian Association for Distance Education Ingeborg Bø is impressed with the program.

Sub-themes have also been developed, with each day focusing on one of them:

A. Indigenous Education for future Generations: A strategy to preserve our Indigenous languages, cultures, sciences, arts and philosophies, cases where Indigenous Education is recognized and enforced by national policies;

Anni Rauna Triumf, who worked with us during the AGM 2010 in Guovdageaidnu last month, will now work at the WINHEC Head Office as an office help from this week until Christmas this year. To the AGM participants she is a familiar face, as she was part of the organizing team. To the rest of you we introduce her as a 19 year old Sámi girl from Guovdageaidnu who among other things has some international experiences from a research project on Arctic youth.

WINHEC Annual General Meeting 2010 was held in Sápmi, at Sámi allaskuvla/Sámi University College, in Guovdageaidnu/Kautokeino, in northern Norway, on August 24-26, at Diehtosiida, the Sámi House of Science. There was also preparation meeting sessions for executives Aug 21-22, planning meeting for working party heads on Aug 23 as well as the Executive Board meeting on Aug. 23.
